Goulding Burns

Ellie Goulding – Burn (single)

Taken from the forthcoming re-packaged version of Halcyon, Ellie Goulding releases Burn, this track is co-written with Ryan Tedder & Greg Kurstin amongst others, so this track comes with a stellar pedigree.

Singles wise Goulding is on a hot streak and has chosen her collaborators wisely, following on from I Need Your Love with Calvin Harris, she enlists Kurstin to produce this track.

Kurstin definitely knows his way around a hit record and delivers for Goulding, the track itself, lightly, straddles a  number of genres, EDM, Trance and bashment but it still remains pop, not as off kilter as Figure 8, however, I expect Burn will give Goulding another top 10 hit.

Quin Twins Are No Fools

Tegan & Sara – I Was A Fool (Single)

To the uninitiated Tegan & Sara Quin are identical twins from Canada who have made a number sprightly indie pop albums. On their seventh album, “Hearthrob” they have enlisted the production duties of Greg Kurstin, amongst others ,who knows his way around a pop hit.

The second single following from last years “Closer“;” I Was A Fool is pop perfection, a radio led piano ballad, sweet harmonies and bittersweet lyrics about a relationship that has broken down & not being able to move on. How can any one not like a lyric like “Love like ours is never fixed“?
